Dedicated to helping disabled individuals obtain
Social Security disability benefits in North Carolina

Two of my heroes are Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.   It is not a coincidence that both these men were lawyers.  I believe Mandela expressed a profound truth when he wrote

What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived.
It is what difference we have made to the lives of others
that will determine the significance of the life we lead.

The practice of law has a lot to offer those who are motivated by altruistic goals.  There is no shortage of injustice and suffering around us.  A law degree can be an effective tool to fight injustice and lessen suffering.

Even though we may not be destined to be a Gandhi or Mandela, each lawyer has the potential to make a positive impact on the lives of others, to stand up for justice, to lesson suffering, one person at a time.

Our days on this planet are limited.  I believe when our Journey comes to an end it will not matter how much wealth we have acquired.  Instead, what will be most important is the number of souls we have touched with compassion and kindness.
